Best Earbud Covers

As I was sticking my earbuds in my ears for a quick walk this morning, I remembered I wanted to write a post on how great the new earbud covers are.

A month or two ago, the earbud covers on my Sony MDRE828LP earbuds started to come off.  So I went on a quest to research earbud covers to replace them.  In my typical "research things to death" fashion, I read a ton of reviews.

A lot of the ones out there have bad reviews.  Either the foam replacements are too tight to get on your earbuds without destroying them or you will spend half your day trying to get them on, or they are just too thin and rip.

That is definitely not the case for the ones that I purchased that are shown above.  They look gray in the picture, but they're actually black as you can see below.  These earbud covers are great!  They went right on in less a minute and one huge additional bonus was that I tried a set on my iPhone 5 headphones and surprisingly, they fit those as well!  So they work well as iPhone headphone covers as well.

Prior to getting the foam covers on my iPhone 5 headphones, they would ALWAYS fall out of one of my ears.  It was so annoying that I couldn't use them if I was going to be moving around at all.  With the foam covers on them, they don't fall out at all and I love being able to utilize them for the built-in microphone and volume/pause buttons on the cord.

Quick funny story, the day that I received the earbud covers, I went to put them on the Sony earbuds and one of our cats had apparently chewed through the cord overnight!  Seriously?!  I've had those headphones for years and I'm about to breathe new life into them with some nice cushy new foam covers and you pick that day to eat through the cord?!  I had to laugh.

What is also funny is on one of the reviews for the foam covers that I read, someone mentioned how to avoid having a cat eat through your cords.  The suggestion was to put a drop or two of dish washing soap on your fingers and run it down the full length of the cord.  I did that on any headphone cords that were handy and so far so good.

If you're looking to replace warn or just plain dirty earbud covers, you can't go wrong with these.

Pat Flynn - Let Go Day!

I wanted to let y'all know about Pat Flynn's Let Go Day!

Pat is one of the premier "good guys" in the Online/Internet Marketing space and gives away the majority of his excellent knowledge for free on his website.

I've been following him for over 2 years and credit him and his site for getting me started with blogging and niche site creation.

Today he is having a huge "Let Go Day" and giving away the audio version of his eBook for free today only.  I received a free copy of the eBook a few weeks ago from a giveaway on another site and it is an excellent, inspiring story about how losing his job in the architecture field turned into a huge positive and got him to where he is today.

Definitely grab the free audio book and check out his post today to find out all about "Let Go Day".

iOS 7 New Features and Device Compatibility List

Apple announced a bunch of new features coming to its iOS software, which runs the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Below are 10 new features in the iOS 7 software, which is expected to be available to consumers in the fall.

It is a pretty decent list of updates, but will the new OS offer enough new features to convince me to give up the jailbreak?  Not quite sure yet.

If you have an iPhone 5, all features will be available.  However, the feature list gets shorter as you go back in time to previous devices.  See the compatibility list at the bottom for more details.

iOS 7 New Features

1. Control Center: You'll be able to swipe up from any screen to immediately jump into system settings such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

2-3. When the camera app is open, beyond stills or video, you'll get two other labeled options: shooting the photo as a square picture or a panorama. You can also edit photos with Instagram-like filters.

4. In the photo app, Apple is bringing organization to hundreds of photos, using the camera information about where and when they were shot to organize them into "Moments," "Collections" and "Years."

5. Find My iPhone lock: A new "activation lock" feature requires your Apple ID and password before you can turn off Find My iPhone, further thwarting thieves.

6. AirDrop. The new feature is Apple's answer to Samsung's Galaxy S line of phones, which let other Galaxy users share photos and other files by clicking the phones together. AirDrop lets other iOS users send items directly to each other, without opening text message or e-mail to do so. (This feature has already been available on Apple's latest Mac computers.)

7. Multi-tasking: Apple say it has improved multi-tasking. By pressing the home button twice, you can see preview screens of all your running apps and swipe to move from one to another.

8. Background updates: The new iOS will update apps automatically in the background and does so when you're plugged into Wi-Fi. The idea is that fetching such updates won't kill your battery.

8. iTunes radio. Apple also debuted its answer to Pandora. ITunes Radio will be available on computers and mobile devices later this year. The program brings in preprogrammed radio stations to iTunes, and will let listeners create stations based on their favorite artists.

9. Safari: Apple says its new look for the Safari browser will let you see more of your content and includes full-screen browsing. There's also a "smart search" field that simplifies searching and a cool new tab view for scrolling from one page to another.

10. Siri: New male and female voices are coming to Siri. Also new: Twitter search integration, which lets you ask Siri what people are chatting about on Twitter. Siri also now taps Wikipedia as a resource as well as Bing search.
