I'm going to be taking the Red Hat Linux Certified Engineer Fast Track class the week of Oct 17th. I'd highly recommend getting this RHEL6 RHCE Study Guide, whether you're taking a Red Hat class or not. It's a great resource and they provide lots of end of chapter hands on exercises as well as sample exams.
The test is entirely hands on and you're given a computer system and have to perform various tasks, fix problems, etc. Here's an exam outline if you're interested. The test is in two parts, a RHCSA (Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator) portion which is first and 2 hours and the RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) portion which is another 2 hours.
The test is difficult enough as it is, but now they will be asking you to do different things on a very different operating system, so it will be even tougher than it normally would. So needless to say, I will be spending the next month doing as much prep work as I can. So if my blogging slacks a bit over the next month, don't hold it against me. I'll attempt to keep things going and will probably need a diversion anyhow. Thanks for understanding and wish me luck!
Update: I passed!
